Outstanding apprenticeship training in Vreden
Willhelm Severt GmbH awarded apprenticeship training certificate by the Employment Agency
“We would like to highlight the value of in-company training and honour those companies that demonstrate a particular commitment to this in a variety of ways,” emphasised Rolf Heiber, Chief Operating Officer of the Coesfeld Employment Agency, during the presentation of the training certificate.
“We are delighted to have been awarded the training certificate by the Employment Agency,” said Christina Tenhumberg, a member of the management team at Wilhelm Severt GmbH. “This award confirms our commitment to training young people and our responsibility as a training company. Supporting the next generation of talent is particularly close to our hearts – because well-trained skilled workers are the future of our industry.”
“Our trainees take on specific tasks right from the start and are given the opportunity to take on responsibility at an early stage. In doing so, they are not just trainees, but an integral part of our team,” emphasise Reinhold Höltermann and Andreas Volmer, trainers in the industrial and technical sector. Through flat hierarchies, the company creates a supportive working environment in which ideas are listened to and personal growth is encouraged.
“It is also particularly important to us to give our trainees an understanding of the full range of manufacturing processes,” emphasises Andreas Volmer. By involving them in different departments and workflows, they gain a comprehensive insight into all relevant processes and thus develop a holistic understanding of their role and our company.
“A big thank you goes to our entire team, who guide and support our trainees with great commitment, knowledge and passion,” emphasises Christina Tenhumberg. At Severt, they are proud to enable young people to make a successful start to their careers and will continue to invest wholeheartedly in training and development.
Around 4,300 apprenticeship contracts were signed last year in the Coesfeld Employment Agency district. “That’s not as many as a few years ago, but it’s still a large number. On the one hand, it shows the great importance of dual training for the entire region and, on the other, how popular in-company training remains among young people,” emphasises Rolf Heiber. Severt would like to train even more apprentices, but finding interested young people is becoming increasingly difficult, as Rainhold Höltermann reports: “It’s not just us; many businesses in our area are reporting the same thing.”
That is why Severt is particularly proactive in this area. “Our trainers meet regularly to discuss what we can do to inspire young people,” says Christina Tenhumberg. “Work experience placements are particularly important. We are very committed to this. It allows us to get to know young people well, and they learn a lot about our company,” explains Volmer. Indeed, the company has recognised the importance of raising its profile. So it showcases itself at various trade fairs, in schools and is also active on social media. “Furthermore, we want to inspire even the youngest children with an interest in industry and technology. That is why we regularly invite nursery and primary school children to our company to introduce them to the diversity and opportunities within industry in a playful way and to spark an early interest in technical careers,” emphasises Christina Tenhumberg.
Rolf Heiber sees this as exactly the right approach: “You focus on providing a good apprenticeship in a great environment, promote yourselves through various channels to raise your profile, offer work placements and provide numerous further training opportunities after the apprenticeship. In doing so, you demonstrate a special commitment to promoting young talent, which is rightly recognised with the apprenticeship certificate,” he says appreciatively.
Once a year, the Coesfeld Job Centre honours a company in the Borken district that has made a particular contribution to in-company training engagement.
